Roller and Solar Shades

At Custom Wood Shutters & Blinds, we carry roller shades because they are a stylish and simple cost-effective window covering option for homes and businesses. A solid shade may make a subtle statement in living and dining rooms while a printed shade can liven up breakfast rooms and bedrooms. Hunter Douglas offers five options of roller and solar shades available in different materials, prints, and styles. Operating systems like PowerView® Automation and SoftTouch® Motorization make your roller and solar shades extra convenient. Our team is proud to offer more than just our name suggests with our Hunter Douglas roller and solar shades.

Designer Roller Shades

Designer Roller Shades can be used on their own or under Hunter Douglas matching drapery. Designer Roller Shades come in over 400 different fabrics, from see-through to solid, and are engineered with a minimal light gap for light control and privacy. Top treatments and bottom treatments are available to hide the fabric roll for an uncluttered appearance. Designer Roller Duolite® Shades consist of a light-filtering and room-darkening liner for ultimate light control and blockage. Great for both modern and traditional styles, the smooth operation and chic style make Designer Roller Shades window covering favorites.

Designer Screen Shades

Designer Screen Shades were developed especially for use in patios and sunrooms, but make efficient, cost-effective window coverings for any sun-filled space. Screen shades maintain the view of your outdoors without putting your artwork and furniture in danger of fading. They block between 86% and 99% of UV light and come in five “openness” factors — the fabric weave density that controls visibility, privacy, and UV light blockage. Special fabrics include earth-conscious Greenscreen Sea-Tex™, a fabric weaved with yarn from reclaimed ocean plastics and exclusive to Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shades. Like Designer Roller Shades, top and bottom treatments are available to hide the fabric roll for a pristine look.

Design Studio™ Roller Shades

Design Studio™ Roller Shades boast fabrics designed by the top textile experts in the industry. Designs include thoughtful nature prints from NY designer Rebecca Atwood, as well as antique patterns inspired by period pieces from Marcie Bronkar and uniquely dyed global motifs from Seema Krish. A standard roll may be replaced by a reverse roll if desired, and the headrail includes either a small or large square cassette or a fabric-covered or uncovered bottom rail. Design Studio™ Roller Shades may be fashioned for standard or bay and corner specialty window shapes. Pair them with Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery for a cohesive, dimensional appearance.

Designer Banded Shades

A combination of a sheer and a traditional shade, Designer Banded Shades consist of alternating bands of a sheer and solid fabric. Overlap the solid bands for privacy or the sheer bands for viewability and diffused light. The alternating bands seamlessly shift open and closed and come in three different band heights with a variety of different colors, textures, patterns, and opacities to choose from. Designer Banded Shades operate like a traditional roller shade and cover large expanses of glass especially efficiently. A fabric wrapped header acts as a top treatment and eight custom hardware colors allow these shades to match the accents already present in your room. Specialty shapes include bay and corner windows, patio and sliding glass doors, and French doors.

Sonnette® Roller Shades

Another ingenious combination by Hunter Douglas, Sonnette® Roller Shades are made with the same cellular construction that makes honeycomb shades so efficient but with the same ease of use that makes roller shades so convenient. Sonnette® Roller Shades filter harsh sunlight through two fabrics to create warm, white light. The second layer of fabric is undetectable to maintain the silhouette of a traditional roller shade while creating the cellular pocket that makes these shades energy efficient. Semi-opaque and room-darkening options allow these shades to act as blackout shades if desired, and eight fabric collections give homeowners over seventy-five color and texture options ranging from neutral tweeds to vibrant solids. The unique utility of Sonnette® Roller Shades makes them a valuable home investment: install them to insulate your rooms and save money on your next energy bill.
